Assemblywoman Luz Rivas Presents $2 Million to the San Fernando Community Health Center
(Panorama City, Calif. – August 18, 2023) – Today, Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D-San Fernando Valley) presented a $2 million check to the San Fernando Community Health Center (SFCHC), a federally qualified health center, to open a satellite healthcare clinic. The funding for this clinic will serve the community and low-income residents of the Corazón del Valle housing project that is currently under development. SFCHC and Holos Community are collaborating on the Corazón del Valle project to ensure housing and high-quality healthcare are provided to the community members who need it most.
“The Corazón del Valle is exactly what it says it is – the heart of the valley – not only because of its location within the San Fernando Valley but because this project will change lives. Families will have a place to call home as well as receive compassionate care from healthcare providers working at the SFCHC,” stated Assemblywoman Luz Rivas. “SFCHC provides free and low-cost healthcare to over 7,000 patients in the region annually, and these state funds will increase the number of people they are able to serve. This center is one of a kind – a place where people can live and receive much-needed health care.”
“This project is a direct result of leaders in our community coming together to build a healthier, sustainable environment for those most in need,” said SFCHC Chief Executive Officer, Audrey Simons. “Corazón del Valle will enable individuals and families, who might otherwise lack access to care, to enjoy fuller and healthier lives. When we empower people with the resources to take care of their own health and wellbeing, it benefits our entire community.”

The state funding will be utilized to complete phase two of the project. The Corazón del Valle project is expected to be completed by Summer 2024.
